Helping you to find a Rental
|
Though I SELL homes, I believe strongly in helping people accomplish whatever it is that THEY need at the time. (But I sure hope you will call me back when you want to BUY!!) My best advice for finding a local rental is this:
1) Go to the classifieds in the Mining Journal. You can access the Mining Journal on their website www.Mining Journal.net
2) Send me an e-mail requesting the list that our front desk maintains of available local rentals. I will get back to you with a complete list.
3)LOCAL LANDLORDS/DEVELOPERS. I think a good method is to contact these landlords directly and inquire about available rentals. Sometimes easier than looking for specific ads. Please mention to them that I provided this info for you. Here is a list of local landlords:

4)N.M.U.'s website has a terrific off-campus housing list!!! This list includes all types of residential properties not just college housing nmu.edu/offcampus/housing/
Note: If you are looking for temporary arrangements and/or have a pet, your best bet might be the K.I. Sawyer area rentals, as they will automatically rent month-to-month and allow pets.
COMMON RENTS: I often get asked about "normal" rents to expect around town. As is often the case in a college town, rents tend to get set in a "per bedroom" fashion. $300. per bedroom is common, so a 2 bedroom home might rent for 600., and a 3 bedroom for 900. Regardless of who is renting.
COMMON RENTS FOR CONDOS: This is just to give you an idea of things, but it has been common to see rents of 1,000. to 1,200. for Hawks Ridge Lofts (2 BR), about 1,500. to 2,000. for Hawks Ridge townhomes, or similar units, and higher rents of say $2,400. for the condos on the Lakeshore.
